In order to assist you in making your day extra-special, we have included a number of options you can use when saying your vows to each other and when giving and receiving your rings. You may choose any of the options or you can mix and match ideas as you please. You may also feel that you wish to write your own vows for each other, in which case you are free to do so as long as they are acceptable to the marriage officer and provided to him prior to the service.

Declaration of Marriage Vows

OPENING STATEMENT

Dearly Beloved: We are gathered here, in the presence of God and of this company, that ANDREW and ELIZABETH may be united in holy matrimony. We are here to celebrate and share in the glorious act that God is about to perform - the act by which He converts their love for one another into the holy and sacred estate of marriage.

This relationship is an honorable and sacred one, established by our Creator for the welfare and happiness of humankind, and approved by the Apostle Paul as honorable among all men. It is designed to unite two sympathies and hopes into one; and it rests upon the mutual confidence and devotion of husband and wife.

May it be in extreme thoughtfulness and reverence, and in dependence upon divine guidance, that you enter now into this holy relationship."

 DECLARATION OF INTENTION

"The apostle Paul compared the relationship between husband and wife to that between Christ and the church. Marriage is a decision of two individuals to share the same type of pure, Christian love described by Paul."

1 Corinthians  13:4-8, Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails....

"This kind of love enriches each part of life and marriage enriches love. Two lives, shared with this kind of love, can hold more fulfillment and happiness than either life alone."

1.      ROBIN do you declare that, as far as you know, there is no lawful impediment against your proposed marriage to LESLEY.  Do you accept all those present as witnesses that you are taking her as your lawfully wedded wife?  What is your answer?

 2.      LESLEY do you declare that, as far as you know, there is no lawful impediment against your proposed marriage to ROBIN.  Do you accept all those present as witnesses that you are taking him as your lawfully wedded husband?  What is your answer?

 GROOM & BRIDE:  Yes

 GIVE EACH OTHER YOUR RIGHT HAND

 GROOM

ROBIN do you take LESLEY to be your wife, to live together according to the instructions in Gods Word?  Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in times of health and in sickness, and forsaking all other woman, Do you promise to be totally committed to her as long as you both shall live?

 Groom answers: I do

 3.      BRIDE

 LESLEY do you take ROBIN to be your husband, to live together according to the instructions in Gods Word?  Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him in times of health and in sickness and forsaking all other men, do you promise to be totally committed to him as long as you both shall live?

 Bride answers: I do

ROBIN in the presence of God and all these witnesses, make your vows to LESLEY by saying after me:

 "I, ROBIN, take thee, LESLEY, to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part. According to God's holy ordinance, and thereto I pledge thee my faith."

 LESLEY in the presence of God and all these witnesses, make your vows to ROBIN by saying after me:

 "I, LESLEY, take thee, ROBIN, to be my wedded husband. to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part. According to God's holy ordinance, and thereto I pledge thee my faith."

 4.      RINGS:

The Bride & Bridegroom will now confirm their vows by the giving of a ring, the token and pledge of their love and allegiance to each other.

"It is a Christian custom to exchange rings as a symbol of love.

As the rings have no end so, your love should have no end. As the rings are made of gold symbolizing purity, so should your marriage have purity. As often as either of you see them, you will be reminded of this moment and the endless love you promised."

GROOM AND BRIDE REPEAT

This ring symbolizes the unending union of my life with yours. Your dreams are now my dreams, Your hopes are my hopes. Your fears are my concerns. Your affection is my joy, Your love is my blessing.

 DECLARATION OF THE MARRIAGE

"What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder. Forasmuch as ROBIN and LESLEY have consented together in holy matrimony, and have witnessed the same before God and this company and have pledged their love and loyalty to each other, and have declared the same by the joining and the giving of rings, I, therefore, pronounce that you are husband and wife, in the name of The Father and The Son and The Holy Spirit."

"You may now kiss the Bride."

PRESENTATION: "I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. HARRISON

Personalized Vow
written by Alan Johnson

I love you.
I pledge to grow in my Love for you.
I pledge to nurture our Love for it is
loving you that nurtures my soul.
I pledge to share our Love together as One.
I love you because you are the only one for me.
To know you is to know Love
- and through you, know True Love.

I love you because you are the One who completes me.
I can not know union without you
- for it is by joining you that I learn
about Love's union and where it comes from.

I love you because it is my soul mission in Life to learn our Love.
I do not so much seek to heal you,
but to embrace our Love that fills our Life as a way of healing each other.
I see your Love for me in your eyes and I see what freedom is,
what True Love is.

I promise to support your growth and share the fullness of myself.
I promise to honor you by being open to all the expressions of your inner self.
I promise to allow our Love we share become our Prayer we live.
Above all, I promise to be true to you and true to myself
so that we may grow in our Love that joins us as one.

If the Eagle is the symbol of freedom born out of True Love,
then I am one wing and you are equally the other.
Let us fly together in harmony and may
gentle winds carry us all the way to Heaven.

Union of Love
submitted by Donna Davis

We will forever love one another and to share our most intimate thoughts.
Promise to hold and cherish and value each other.
We will live each day as if our last, vowing to never go to bed angry.
If sorrow enters our life as things sometimes do ,we pledge to one another that together we will see things through.
As we grow old and we slowly begin to change we will look into each others eyes and know that what we have will never go.
That with each breath we take ,our love will grow .
These are the words I feel and speak from my heart.

Passages written by William Shakespeare

Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or Bends with the remover to remove.
O, no! It is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken.
It is the star to every wandering bark,
whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So they lov'd as love in twain
Had the essence but in one;
Two distinct, divisions none
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My bounty is as deep boundless as the sea. My love as deep;
The more I give to thee, the more I have, for both are infinite.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One half of me is yours, the other half yours-
Mine own, I would say; but if mine, then yours,
And so all yours!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Love comforteth like sunshine after rain.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love sought is good, but given unsought is better.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Such is my love, to thee I so belong,
That for thy right myself will bear all wrong.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For thy sweet love remember'd such Wealth brings,
That then I scorn to change my state with kings
